Outwoods Primary School

Anti-Idling Campaign

We have been working very closely with Staffordshire County Council and have lots of exciting projects planned.

Our first campaign started on the 14th March 2022 for two weeks on anti-idling. The children were outside during the drop-off and pick-up times, encouraging adults to turn off their engine.

During the first week, they surveyed the areas for where the most idling was happening and the second week they campaigned to improve this.

One of our Pupils, Jennie Webster - Year 5, was involved in our first campaign and has these words to say:

"Travel Ambassadors are represented by children from Years 3 to 6. Our latest campaign was an anti-idling campaign where we went to the areas that surround Outwoods Primary School to help limit air pollution. The campaign was helping to explain to parents, who are waiting in their cars to pick up their children with engines running, how idling can affect our environment. During March 2022, we monitored how many cars were idling and how long they were doing it for."

We are very excited for all future campaigns and look forward to involving other students.
