“I became a Parent Governor in March 2018.  I am married to Amie and have two children, Ava and Henry.  Henry attends Outwoods Primary School.  Our family includes Logan the Weimaraner and Ginger and Harriot the chickens. I decided to become a governor to take a more active role in my children’s education, to work with the school so that as a Governor, I could ensure my children and all other parent's children were getting the best education the school could offer.

I work for Molson Coors as a Systems manager working on continuous improvement of our systems and processes.  I am enjoying getting to know the school better and believe we have the right vision and ethos to give our children the best start in life”.

I am retired but used to work in Information Technology, initially in Burton but later in projects across Europe.

Since retiring I have had time to get involved in the local community. I have been previously Stretton Borough Councillor and a Stretton Parish Council and Deputy Lead Governor at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. I am passionate about running, you may have seen me pounding the streets, I also coach middle distance runners at Burton Athletic Club. Which is why I stepped down from other roles to focus on this and last year I coached the Junior Boys England Schools Champion at 1500 metres.

I was asked if I would join the Outwood Governors in 2019 and I am still seeing more challenges that the school faces and how it is facing them in a positive way. I hope with my knowledge and experience I can continue to help the school achieve its vision.

My name is Ann Mason. I am a retired Headteacher from Dudley Borough in the West Midlands. I spent nearly 40 years working as a teacher in Dudley. My last ten years were as a Head teacher of a 3 – 11 primary school. I loved my career and am very proud of the difference I made to many children in Dudley.

My partner and I moved to the East Midlands in 2019, after my retirement in December 2018, because we have family in Hilton. We have two lovely grandchildren, Ivy aged 3 and Harry aged 2, and we love spending time with them.

I offered to become a Governor at Outwoods Primary to share all the knowledge and experience I have gained over my career, to help the school continue to move forward and thrive. I live in Stretton, it is now my community, and I want to support my community. Also, I miss working with children and developing their education, and this is the perfect way I can do that now.

I enjoy keeping fit and walk each week locally or in the Peak District. I do Pilates every week and I play badminton at 3M’s club in Allestree. We also love travelling and are looking forward to getting abroad again.

I am looking forward to working with the Governing Body to support Outwoods Primary School.

My name is Joanne Cutbush and I have the privilege of being the Headteacher at Outwoods Primary School.  I have been part of the teaching team for 16 years when I joined as an NQT, and I have a great affinity and passion for the school, so it makes me extremely proud to be leading such a talented and committed team of staff.

Over the years, I have seen many changes to the school, but we are resilient and I am happy to say that we stand fast in our commitment and drive to provide the best education and opportunities that we can for all of our pupils.  Part of my role as Headteacher is to work closely with the governors, reporting important updates about attainment and progress of the children, ensuring they are informed of all the wonderful things that we do in school, as well actions that we are taking to improve the school further.  After digesting the information that is sent to them, they discuss any issues and pose challenging questions in their role of accountability.  The governors enjoy planned visits to the school to visit the children and observe their day-to-day experience.  I am proud to work with the governing body to make our school as special as it is.

On a personal note, I am a proud mummy to my little girl - I enjoy spending time with both her and my loved ones.  When time allows, I love to read and get lost in a book, and my passion for this is something I enjoy sharing with the children at Outwoods.

I have served on the governing body for 11 years, firstly as a non-teaching staff governor and now as a co-opted governor.  I am the Senior Family Support Manager and Assistant SENDCo for Outwoods.  My life at Outwoods began when I joined William Hutson Junior School as a Teaching Assistant on a 6 month contract  -  18 years later, I still enjoy helping children to blossom and reach their full potential, both in and out of the classroom.
